My trip to Reykjavik in pictures.

Thursday, 14 January 2016

I recently went to Reykjavik in Iceland to celebrate New Year's Eve.
Iceland is a place I've always wanted to visit. Ever since I was 10 and dreamt of riding Iceland horses.

I was so excited when me and Stephen, my husband, decided to go and booked our holiday.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. It was already dark as at this time of the year Reykjavik only have four hours of daylight.

We visited Reykjavik downtown. It has two main shopping streets with some lovely cafe's and restaurants.
I was delighted to find The knitting association of Iceland. They're the ones that make all the gorgeous knitted jumpers. When I saw all the yarn I was like a kid in a sweet shop. I decided to buy yarn instead and make my own jumper. That's one of my goals for this year.

My highlights of the trip were of course Icelandic horse riding. I've always been slightly afraid of normal size horses. But Icelandic horses are much smaller and so cute. They are known for being hardy and easy to control. The horses have developed a double coat for extra insulation in cold temperatures.
We got up early one morning and got to go horse riding in the wind and snow/rain. It was freezing, but wonderful. I was so happy to finally be in Iceland on a horse.

We then went off to the golden circle tour. We saw Geysir, which is amazing. How hot water just can shoot up from the ground meters and meters high.

We sÃ¥g Geysir vilket var fantastiskt. Hur varmt vatten bara kan skjuta upp ur marken flera meter hög.

We also went to the waterfalls in Gullfoss.

Vi åkte även till vartenfallen i Gullfoss.

Another highlight was the blue lagoon. I wrote an earlier post about my experience at the blue lagoon so if you want to read more about that please click herehttp://www.sarasteele.co.uk/2015/12/having-face-mask-in-blue-lagoon.html?m=1

And of course New Year's Eve. We went for a five course dinner in our hotel restaurant Vox. It was lovely and the food was great. We then watched the fireworks that they go crazy for in Iceland.

Have you ever been to Iceland? What did you enjoy the most? Where do you want to travel in 2016?

Har du nÃ¥gonsin varit pÃ¥ Island? Vad gillade du mest? Var vill du resa i 2016?

2015 in pictures

Thursday, 31 December 2015

We have just moved in to 2016. I want to share a little bit from my 2015. I'm sure we all have had our ups and downs. But as usual I like to focus on the positive in life. 2015 was an exciting year especially for my blog as I started my blog in February and my YouTube channel in March. It's been an incredible journey and I've learned so much. I've also traveled to amazing places like Thailand, Cambodia and finished the year in Iceland.

Enjoyed some beautiful visits home to Sweden.

I made a video on how to do a Swedish Midsummer crown with my friend Jess.

Loved doing hair tutorials among other things on my YouTube channel.

Went to see Blur in Hyde Park

Took my mum to Paris in the summer.

Ran my first half marathon. Here I am with my friend Tor after the finishing line.

Had a great time in Thailand and Cambodia celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary.

Discovered some new exciting organic beauty brands.

As always I had some good times as work creating some beautiful hairstyles.

      Attended my first blogging event.

      Ended the year in Iceland.

What was your highlights of 2015?

Having a face mask in the Blue lagoon

Tuesday, 29 December 2015

At the moment I'm enjoying a week in Iceland. It's been amazing so far. Today we went to the Blue lagoon

You can find the Blue Lagoon in a lava field in Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula, on Iceland's south-west coast. A giant bathtub that pools, six million litres of geothermal seawater from 2000 metres beneath the earth's surface. By the time it reaches the lagoon, the mineral- rich milky, Aqua blue water, simmer at temperatures between 37- 40°C.

The water is self-cleansing - it renews itself every 40 hours. The geothermal water has a unique composition, featuring three active ingredients - Silica, Algae & Minerals.

The white Silica mud settles at the bottom of the lagoon and doubles up as a perfect mineral-rich face mask.

        The mud from the Lagoon.

Leave on for 5-10 min and rinse off leaving your skin feeling smooth and soft.

More about Iceland is coming to the blog soon.
