Organic beauty on a budget

Thursday, 22 September 2016

Switching to organic can sometimes feel like everything all of a sudden got expensive. So I decided to share with you some of my favourite green beauty brands that are worth checking out if you're on a budget.

Okko is great balms which zero waste. All their packaging is compostable and their balm lasts a long time. Their products range between £11-13  Want to know more here's my review of their body balm.

Okko är fantastiska balms med noll avfall. All deras förpackning är komposterbar och deras balms hÃ¥ller länge. Deras produkter kostar mellan 120-150kr. Vill du veta mer läs min recension pÃ¥ deras kroppsbalm här

Balm Balm is a great brand and most of their products are under £10. Great products and I love the cute packaging.

Sukin is a great Australian brand and is perfect if you're on a low budget. They have a wide range of products from hair care to body- and skincare. Here's my latest review on their face cream. But I've more if you just search for Sukin.

Men jag he fler sÃ¥ bara sök pÃ¥ Sukin.

A French brand that wants to make organic cosmetic affordable. I've mainly just tried their makeup, but they do a lot of other things too. I'm always surprised how cheap they are every time I look at their products. Because they're good quality.

http://www.saachorganics.com
A British brand inspired by India. I've only tried their haircare so far but it's been great. They're good for my hair and the spicy scents are amazing to wake up to in the morning. Check out my review here

Kolla in min recension här

SenSpa is affordable and also available in shops like Waitrose. I've tried their soaps and hair mask and I think it's good value.

Love Lula
Another great way to discover organic beauty products on a budget is to order a discovery box. Love Lula has one that's only £12.50/ month and you get products worth of £45. You'll get a variation of products and I've been impressed so far with the content. Order one here

Hope this helped. Have you tried any of these brands before?

A mini empties

Friday, 13 May 2016

I recently did a massive empties video. And somehow I still managed to have a few more empties just few weeks later. I thought I share them with you here as I don't want to save them and take empty bottles with me when I move to Sweden.

My first product I finished was Neals Yard remedies honey & orange facial scrub. It smells lovely, but it's too rough on my skin. The grains are quite big and you have to be very gentle applying it on the skin. I would use this more as a body scrub, than a face scrub.

Another empty product is the gorgeous oil bloom & glow from Angela Langford. I've enjoyed this facial oil so much and I'm sad it's finished. It's been perfect for my skin and one of my favourite oils at all times.

I also finished Botanicals nourishing face balm. Another skincare product I enjoyed. It melts in to the skin and moisturising it well. I've done a review on it if you want to read more.

The last of my empties is Sukin's protein hair treatment. I loved this hair treatment. I actually kept getting comments on my hair every time I used it. It made the hair feel soft and look healthy. It's definitely become a staple hair product I will keep going back too

That was my recent empties. What are some of the recent products you have used up? Have you tried one of the ones I mentioned? Why did you think?

Review | Sukin Rose hip hydrating day cream

Monday, 28 March 2016

A perfect face cream as we're moving into spring. Spring is definitely here and as we are having warmer weather our skin won't be as dry anymore and it's time to find another face cream to follow suit. The Sukin Rosehip hydrating day cream is perfect as it's quite light and keeps your skin moisturised.

Spring can be a confusing time for our skin. It's definitely recovering from the winter dryness, but still need something to keep it moisturising. My skin is as most sensitive in the spring, with all the pollen flying around.

I jumped on the opportunity to try Sukin's Rosehip day cream. I'm already a fan of Sukin, they're an affordable organic brand and all their products are vegan. Anyone who watches my YouTube videos know I've been raving about their hair treatment.

First of all I was surprised by the size. It comes in a 120 ml jar. Which is the biggest face cream I've ever had. I would prefer it in a bottle with a pump for hygienic reasons. Because that's a lot of times I'm going to dip my finger into that jar. It's about £20 for 120ml which I think is cheap.

With gorgeous ingredients rich in vitamin C, like rose hip, pomegranate and kakadu plum, makes it deeply moisturising. It gets rid of any dryness and makes the skin look radiant and fresh. It gives the skin a perfect glow for spring.

I enjoyed this rose hip moisturiser cream from Sukin. It was a perfect transition from winter to spring. My skin feels smooth and hydrated. The scent is a gorgeous blend of the fruity ingredients. I love the smell of kakadu plum. Only a small amount is needed, so this is going to last a long time. I would buy this again.

What are some of your favourite Sukin products?

Where do I buy organic beauty products

Thursday, 9 July 2015

I know I'm lucky to live in London as opting for green and organic beauty is a lot easier than many other places. But even in London many people don't know where to start, so I've decided to put together a list where I buy all my organic beauty products. For you who don't live in London there's online options too.

1. Wholefoods / your local organic shop
Most places have an organic local shop with food and some beauty products, where you can get your basic hair and body products.
My local shop happens to be Wholefoods in Piccadilly Circus. In Wholefoods there's a whole world of different brands (The one in Kensington high street got even a bigger selection). This is where I get most of my basic products like body wash, lotions, toothpaste, deodorant and cleansers. I love browsing in Wholefoods as you get left alone and with opening hours to 10pm, I have all the time in the world. Well kind of.

2. Content Beauty
If you're lucky to be in central London, you must pay a visit to Content Beauty in Marylebone. It's a boutique organic skincare store. It's small but they have so many wonderful and pretty products and I love this place. They also have a beauty salon for facials, massage, waxing and nails.
It's all organic and they have a hand picked selection of the most advanced cult natural beauty brands from around the world. This is where I treat myself with products I've wanted for a long time or just to discover new brands. They stock some beauty's like Kjaer Weiss and Ilia beauty. The girls in there are so friendly. They let you browse in your own time without bothering you, but helpful when need be. My perfect kind of shop.

If you're not in London they are also available online http://www.beingcontent.com

3. Holland & Barrett
Holland & Barrett is everywhere, which is great. This is where I go to get my essentials when I'm not near Wholefoods. They don't have as big range but still great for some basic things like body wash or toothpaste. The bigger once have better selection of beauty products and some even stock Lavera makeup.

4. Naturisimo
This is my go to website to check a product if it's vegan or I just want to know more about a product. They are so informative about every product they stock. Naturisimo is selective of the products they sell. All the products are free from

  • parabens
  • SLS
  • Petroleum/ mineral oil
  • Phthalates
  • GM, pesticides or herbicides residues

Non of products are tested on animals.

On their website they claim "Our mission is to promote the wellbeing of every living creature. We are not only about avoiding harmful chemicals, pollutants and animal cruelty by offering safe and healthy products.

We are also about responsible purchasing

  • sustainable lifestyles,
  • fair trade,
  • animal rights,
  • biodiversity,
  • making the world a better place
  • and last but not least the joy of living

Some of the brands they sell are Kjaer Weiss, Green people, Lavera, Giovanni and Suti. They also do free delivery worldwide.
http://www.naturisimo.com

5. Life
Life is where I go when in Sweden. It's health and Eco shop with great selection of organic beauty. I go the the larger store in Stockholm. Where they sell Maria Ã…kerberg products, my favourite Swedish brand. If you're ever in any of the Nordic countries I recommend to check it out.

Where do you shop your organic beauty products? I would love to get some more tips of places or products to try.

Review | Sukin hydrating body lotion & Aloe Vera gel

Sunday, 21 June 2015

I recently went to buy my first Sukin product, a body lotion. When I got home I had an email asking me to try their aloe vera gel to review. I was only a little freaked out. Like had they just been stalking me in Wholefoods? Probably not. To be honest I was more happy than freaked out. Anyway I've decided to review both of the products here.

Sukin - hydrating body lotion

Reason why I chose Sukin was because it's free from so many nasties like -
  • parabens,
  • SLS,
  • animal derivatives,
  • synthetic fragrances,
  • artificial colours I can go on and on
I have a normal skin type with tendencies towards dry and this lotion feels nice and refreshing on my skin. It's for all skin types. It's light and sinks into the skin quickly. The lotion smells a bit citrusy and fresh, perfect for summer I think. This makes sense as some of the ingredients are citrus fruits like lime and grapefruit it also contains avocado, nettle and rose hip.

I'm a bit funny with trying new body lotions because I had few irritated skin accidents in the past. But Sukin body lotion is a new favourite of mine.

I like the bottle with the pump that squirt out just the right amount to apply to my skin. It's a lovely dark tinted bottle with a a label that gives an organic look to the product.

Sukin - Aloe Vera gel

Aloe Vera gel is great to use for after the sun, to cool and soothe the skin. unfortunately, I haven't had much chance to try it for that purpose as living in the UK. But I can tell it's going to be great for it so I'm bringing it to my holidays this summer.

The Aloe Vera gel is good to use for dry and irritated skin and after you've shaved as it soothes your skin.

I must say that it does soothe the skin especially after shaving my legs it was such a nice feeling to put the gel on. The gel is light and sinks into the skin easily and my legs feel great.

I wished I had the Aloe Vera gel earlier as great to use for irritated skin. I'm even thinking all those time I've burned my skin whilst cooking this would work miracles.

Again it's a nice bottle with a pump that makes it easy to use, but a smaller version than the lotion.

So far I haven't got anything negative to say about Sukin.

Have you tried Sukin? What's your favourite Sukin product?
