I'm late to the party, but I finally decided to try soap nuts. The greenest detergent there is. 

Jag är sen till festen, men jag har äntligen bestämt mig för att prova tvättnötter. Det grönaste tvättmedel som finns. 

Soap nuts are a berry shell that naturally contains soap. They grow on the Sapindus Emarginatus (soapberry) tree in India. The natural soap found inside is called saponin. Saponin is a natural cleaner that works as a surfactant, breaking the surfaces ensign of the water to penetrate the fibre of the fabric. It lifts stains from the fabric and leaving dirt suspended in the water that is rinsed away. They can be used for both hand wash and machine wash. 

Tvättnötter är bärskal som naturligt innehåller såpa. De växer på Sapindus Emarginatus (såpbär) träd i Indien. Den naturliga såpan som finns inuti kallas saponin. Saponin är ett naturlig renare som fungerar aktivt på ytan, och tränger in i fibrerna i textilerna. Det lyfter fläckarna från textilierna och lämnar smutsen kvar i vattnet som sköljs bort. De kan användas för både handtvätt och maskintvätt. 

I put a handful of nuts in a cotton bag. You can use the same nuts several times. No need for softener either. 

Soap nuts are gentle on both clothes and skin, making them ideal for those with sensitive skin, eczema, allergies and psoriasis. 

The nuts are actually a berry fruit related to the lychee and are not nuts at all. They're completely nut allergy safe.

I find them doing the job. My clothes look and feel clean. They smell clean but not perfumed as from usual detergent. Clothes are fresh and I'm looking forward to continue to use my soap nuts and having less waste in my home and a step to closer to cleaner water.

Jag stoppar en handfull av nötter i en bomullspåse. Du kan använda samma nötter flera gånger. Det behövs inget sköljmedel heller. 

Tvättnötter är milda på både kläder och hud, vilket gör dem ideala för dem med känslig hud, eksem, allergier och psoriasis. 
Nötterna är faktiskt en bärfrukt släkting till litchi och är inte alls nötter. De är helt säkra för nötallergiker. 

Jag finner att de gör jobbet. Mina kläder ser och känns rena. De luktar rent men inte parfymerade som från vanliga tvättmedel. Kläderna är fräscha och jag ser fram emot att fortsätta använda mina tvättnötter och ha mindre avfall i mitt hem och ett steg närmare till renare vatten.

Review | Okko skincare - Natural body balm

A great body balm with no waste.  I recently received A body balm from Okko skin care. I was right away drawn to the packaging, which is a cardboard push up tube So it's like a lip balm but bigger and it's for your body. I thought the idea was really clever and couldn't wait to try it. I've now finished it and thought it's time to review.

Ett fantastiskt balm utan avfall.

Jag fick nyligen ett body balm från Okko skincare. Jag drogs direkt till deras förpackning som är gjord av en kartong push-up tub. Det är som ett läppbalsam men större och för hela kroppen. Jag tyckte idén var smart och längtade att få prova den. Jag har nu gjort slut på tuben och tycker att det är dags att recensera. 

The balm

It has the flavour bergamot and frankincense. I find the smell very pleasant. The balm is easy to apply and goes evenly onto the skin. You don't need much as you can just rub it into your skin. It melts on your skin for it to easily apply and it doesn't leave your skin sticky at all. It's supposed to be for all skin types. My skin is normal to tendency to dry, especially in the winter. It worked well on my skin, leaving it feeling soft and moisturised. No surprise with ingredients like mango, avocado and coconut oil.

Balsamet luktar av bergamott och rökelse. Lukten är lätt och behaglig. Den är lätt att applicera. Du behöver inte mycket och det är lätt att massera in. Det smälter på huden och känns inte alls klibbigt efteråt. Den är för alla hudtyper. Min hud är normal med tendenser av torr, särskilt på vintern. Den funkar jättebra på min hud, känns mjuk och len. Ingen överraskning där med ingredienser som mango, avokado och kokosolja.

The packaging

All the packaging is made of cardboard that are biodegradable and recyclable. They're also working on making the sticky labels compostable too. 

It's a push up tube and all you need to do is to push the base up and the balm, then pushes up and it's easy for you to apply. It does get a bit challenging towards the end as I got very small hands, but the back of a makeup brush sorted that problem. 

The balm cost £15 and comes in a 42g tube and I think it would be perfect to bring with you when travelling.

I enjoyed using the Okko natural body balm and would definitely purchase again. Such a perfect product to keep in the bag for on the go or for travelling. I love the whole packaging idea and can't wait for even the label to be compostable. The balms are being made in small batches as natural products shelf life doesn't  last as long. But that just a good sign of good and natural ingredients. 

All förpackning är gjord på kartong som är komposterbar och återvinningsbar. De jobbar även på att göra själva etiketten komposterbar. Det är en push-up tub och det enda du behöver göra är att trycka upp botten och balsamet kommer ut som ett stift. Det blev lite svårare i slutet. Särskilt för mig med mina korta fingrar. Men inget en smink borste kunde lösa. Den kostar 181kr och kommer i en 42g tub. Perfekt att ta med när du är ute och reser. 

Jag gillade Okko natural body balm och skulle gärna köpa igen. Det är en perfekt produkt att ha med sig i väskan eller när jag är ute och reser. Jag älskar hela förpackningen och ser fram emot att se när etiketten blir komposterbar. Balsamet är gjorda i små omgångar eftersom hylltiden inte varar så länge. Men det är bara bevis på att det är en bra och naturlig produkt.
